Milo and June and the Twelve Sky Rooms

The third journey · a dream adventure

On the third night, Milo and June don't even need to count stars. They close their eyes, hold hands, and the path of tiny glowing stars leads straight to the round Sky House — shaped like a giant pizza cut into twelve slices. On the first journey they met the signs, the how. On the second, the planets, the what. Tonight the Sky-Keeper opens the door to the where: the twelve houses of a birth chart, one cosy room at a time.

Twelve short chapters, one room each — from Room 1 (you & new starts) at the eastern horizon, down through the cosy Room 4 at the bottom of the house, and up to Room 10 with its glass ceiling at the very top. Along the way the children learn four sky words (the Ascendant, the IC, the Descendant and the Midheaven) and meet old friends from Books 1 and 2. It ends with the three baskets — planet, sign, house — and a “sky sentence” activity to build your own.

The Round Sky House

A house shaped like a giant pizza, cut into twelve slices. The green line is the horizon: Rooms 1 to 6 are below it, 7 to 12 above. Tap a room to go inside — every one gives you a key.

Room 1 is on the left, just under the horizon — where the Sun comes up. Room 10 is at the very top, under the glass ceiling.

For grown-ups. The twelve rooms are the twelve houses of a Western birth chart: slices of the sky around the place someone was born, worked out from the exact time and place of birth (signs come from the birthday alone). The four sky words are the chart's angles — the Ascendant and Descendant on the horizon, the Midheaven (MC) at the top and the Imum Coeli (IC) at the bottom. The book says so plainly: without an exact birth time the houses can't be placed, and many astrologers simply leave them aside. As always, nothing here is a claim about who a child is or will become.

Try this at bedtime

Ask your grown-ups not just when you were born, but where — and whether it was before sunrise, like Milo, or after midnight, like June.

Which room would you most like to sleep in tonight?
